Hi, I'm Kevin K Lane

I have 30+ years experience in the animation and VFX industry. I've done art and animation of a wide variety.

My first job was at a clay animation studio in Boston, and my most resent job, for almost 8 years, was at NASA/JPL in Pasadena CA, which followed a previous 8 years as an affiliate with JPL.

During these 16 years, I made highly technical 3d animations and visualizations for numerous space missions and mission proposals, most notably of the, Curiosity and Perseverance rovers.

My goal was to tell science based stories in an entertaining way, bringing accuracy together with the visual language of film and television.

In other words, make it fun but it had to be right.

These pieces have been used in the news media and in almost any documentary touching on the subject of mars for TV, cable, and IMAX.

In-between I've worked at many studios, doing traditional animation, stop motion animation and lots of VFX and 3d creature animation. Mostly for television but with a smattering of theatrical mixed in.

During my time at JPL and else ware, I was artist and art directed, and managed small teams of artists. I'm comfortable with most aspects of production from concept to compositing. There's very little of the process I don't enjoy and enjoy challenging myself with.

I hope you find something you like here.
